Whether it’s your first time or you’ve done this before, getting married after a certain age can sometimes bring with it worries on what to wear or anxiety on what people will think or say. We say: ignore people’s opinions and wear whatever makes you feel fabulous!

So, how do you choose your bridalwear if it isn't your first time down the aisle? Or what’s considered suitable for older ladies to wear? Here are some top tips on how to choose a mature bridal dress and feel like a million dollars.

Second Marriage?

Browsing wedding dresses for your second marriage should be just as enjoyable as for your first – maybe even more so. This time round, perhaps you could go for something more adventurous that you didn’t feel confident enough for the first time round, or perhaps you were expected to wear something that wasn’t what you’d have truly chosen for yourself. Any uncertainty over remarriage etiquette can put a dampener on even the most excited of brides. One of the biggest questions people ask is: can you still wear a white wedding dress at your second wedding? The answer is yes of course you can! Sadly, you may encounter some ignorant people who believe that wearing white the second time round is inappropriate or wrong. We believe that a bride can wear whatever she wants to her own wedding – it’s her day! Whether it’s your first, second, third, fourth, fifth or so on... You are in love and getting married, and should be celebrating the occasion with joy and positivity.

Mature Bride Style

Perhaps you’re getting married way after the “traditional” age and are wondering what you should wear? A mature bride simply means grown-up glamour or sophisticated style in our eyes. Whatever wedding dress or outfit you feel comfortable in, we think you should go for it.
If you’re stuck for inspiration, try looking at your current wardrobe first. Pull out some of your favourite occasion pieces and note what it is that you love about them. It might be the colour, neckline, hem length or fabric. Once you see a pattern emerging, use that to guide search for the perfect wedding attire.

If you’re self-conscious about certain areas of your body, try on some styles that discreetly cover these areas and look for styles that flatter your figure and assets. For example, a dress with three-quarter length sleeves will cover upper arms, but the decolletage can be shown off with a sultry sweetheart neckline. When it comes to length, you don’t have to go full length if you don’t feel comfortable. Knee length or midi can be equally as dressy and elegant for a wedding dress.

A dress may not be your first choice, but there are other outfits to consider. A top and skirt can be a glamorous alternative, or a smart trouser suit can create a sophisticated and grown-up glamour look.

To conclude, being a ‘mature bride’ needn’t really be a label as you can wear whatever you like to your own wedding! Whether you’ve done it before or have waited to find ‘the one’, we hope you enjoy every second.
